What Is Naturopathic Medicine Week All About?

The mandate of Naturopathic Medicine Week™ is to educate the Canadian public about the health benefits of naturopathic medicine, and the value of seeing a naturopathic doctor.

Naturopathic Medicine Week is an annual initiative coordinated by the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) and facilitated by provincial/territorial naturopathic organizations and schools. It provides naturopathic doctors with a nationally coordinated opportunity to plan community awareness events and initiatives, such as open clinics and presentations at local community hubs.

Education and Awareness

Held annually, Naturopathic Medicine Week™ is a prime opportunity to showcase the value of naturopathic medicine with patients, prospective patients, public policy makers, reporters, and community leaders through a variety of creative activities, events, and messages.

History of Naturopathic Medicine Week

Each year, the naturopathic medical community celebrates Naturopathic Medicine Week™ (NMW) to help raise awareness, share resources, and celebrate the medicine we all so strongly believe in. In previous years, the naturopathic medical community in the United States recognized NMW during the month of October. In 2021, the Naturopathic Medical Student Association (NMSA) coordinated with organizations and schools across North America so that we all now celebrate NMW in May. The North American naturopathic medical schools host a friendly competition on social media during this week, with the shared goal of increasing public knowledge about naturopathic medicine and its benefits.
